1961

  • PM USA is the first company to assign an African American executive to head its operations in Africa.

1963

  • In Richmond, VA, PM USA launches its Minority Banking Program, leading the way in corporate America's support of community banks that are majority-owned by women and minorities. 

1965

  • A division manager for PM USA’s operations in New York becomes the first African American in the tobacco industry to supervise white salesmen. 

1968

  • PM USA appoints African Americans to four division manager positions, one regional sales manager and 13 district sales manager posts.
